Resources

  • Kids Help Phone

Kids Help Phone offers free single-session counselling to youth aged 5-29 years old. Their service is completely anonymous. The phone line is available 24/7 and their texting line is open from 7pm to midnight ET.

  • Safety Planning

Safety Planning helps people organize "what they're going to do" in a crisis. It can be really difficult to think clearly when we're in distress. Creating a plan ahead of time can help you get to a safe location or connect with safe people when in distress. Linked below is my guide to help you write your own Safety Plan.

  • Crisis Line

Most regions have their own crisis line available. You can Google search to find what line is dedicated for your area. You want to choose a crisis line that is close to where you are in case you need emergency services dispatched. If you cannot find a crisis line in your area and you live in Ontario, you can contact ConnexOntario and they can find that information for you.

  • Certified Listeners Society

Sometimes all you need is to get something off your chest. Certified Listener's Society offers a free and confidential space for users to vent about their problems and share their experiences with another person. Their platform is available 24/7 and run by trained volunteers. This service is not specialized enough to help people through a crisis but can be a good preventative resource.

  • How to Help Others

It can be extremely stressful to watch someone you love experience a crisis. I complied a list of simple steps you can take when someone else is in crisis and you’re not sure what to do.

  • Connex Ontario

Connex Ontario is an online platform that helps users find mental health, gambling, and addiction services in their area. They also have a phone and texting line that is open 24/7, free, and confidential. Connex Ontario does not provide counselling to callers. Responders can listen to your situation, answer questions, and locate resources in your area.
